The interior is entered via a one-piece transparent washboard and steps down. The interior has a maximum of 5 berths in 2 cabins. The main cabin is divided from the fore-cabin by a full height folding door. The main cabin has max headroom of 5ft 10”, and has a dinette with galley and storage on the port side, and table and bench seats on the starboard side. The saloon table can be lowered to form a double berth and there is a full-length quarter berth aft of the galley to port. The fore-cabin has a hanging locker to port and a seawater toilet opposite, which is covered with a hinged plywood lid and cushion when not in use.

It is possible to sleep two people in the fore cabin, or one adult and a child. There is a large storage space under the bunk and it’s cushions.

Electrical equipment:

The engine’s large alternator charges two hefty 12v batteries, via a “1, 2, both, off” rotary switch.

A de-mountable Solar panel can charge one or both batteries as preferred.

There is a Shore power 240v socket with a variety of 3-pin UK sockets wired from the safety trip. A small inverter can also provide 240V to run a laptop or similar. A switch panel with resettable trips controls the 12V supply to the various user outlets. There are Cigar-lighter-type 12V sockets in main cabin and fore cabin, with USB sockets as well for charging phones etc.

Interior lighting uses LED and uses very little electricity.

On Deck:

In the cockpit to starboard, the full length of the seat hinges upwards to give access to a huge storage locker, big enough to contain a dinghy and outboard as well as fenders and warps, and giving access via a side panel to the right hand side of the engine

The rear seat of the cockpit hinges upwards to provide access to the diesel tank and gas locker, also giving space for other equipment required aboard.

The inwards facing panels of the cockpit are fitted with two folding safety line securing points on each side.

The floor of the cockpit has a square hatch giving access to the gearbox and top of the engine. A duckboard covers this hatch, and once the tiller is folded up, a cockpit table can be erected.

Stainless steel push pit, pulpit and guard wires are fitted, as is a blue folding sprayhood (2014), and blue dodgers. A boarding ladder is on the transom.

The tiller has a Spinlock detachable extension. Provision is also made for locating and powering the Tiller Pilot.

There are 2 self tailing sheet winches, 2 snubbing winches and cleats on the cockpit’s sides. 2 halyard winches and 6 rope clutches are on the cabin-top. Rope bundles from these are stowed in fitted rope tidy-bags.

The 20lb CQR anchor with chain and warp has its own locker at the bow.

Ensign, mooring warps and fenders are also included.

Navigating equipment:

Navigation lights, steaming light, anchor light.

Silva S15 DSC VHF radio,

Garmin GPSMap 551 Plotter with charts of the UK, (not all up to date).

Plastimo, NASA Duet echo sounder & log (log not reading speed or distance).

Bulkhead mounted Compass, also clock and barometer in cabin

Safety equipment:

Horseshoe lifebuoy, 2 fire extinguishers, Electric bilge pump, manual bilge pumps in cockpit and rear locker.

Cockpit is equipped with 4 points for attaching safety harnesses.

Black shapes for the foretriangle (anchor, motor-sailing) are to hand. There is also a tetrahedral radar reflector in collapsed form.

Domestic Equipment:

The galley has a Plastimo Neptune 2000 two burner gas cooker with grill. Gas supply is Camping Gaz from a bottle in the gas locker at the rear of the cockpit, which can take up to three cylinders. A gas shut-off valve is in the cupboard above the sink.

The small stainless steel sink is fed by a new manual Whale hand pump and drains overboard. Water supply to sink is from a 20L plastic container in the locker below.

There is good storage for cutlery, crockery and pots and pans.

The thick seat cushions have woven fabric upholstery and there are both curtains and carpets.

The large cockpit table is stowed under the saloon table when not in use. Large lockers are under the seats, one of which contains the batteries, electrical sockets and other hardware.

Trailer and Tender Options

Having acquired Kioni on the coast of Essex, but intending to sail her in the bluer waters of the West Country, we needed a trailer to get her back to the Midlands and then onwards to the 2022 sailing location. Joint owner Keith lives close to the works of SBS trailers in Wolverhampton, and being unable to find anything second-hand that was serviceable, we decided to commission a new BK3000 trailer (3000Kg max gross weight), fully galvanized and with a flushing system to wash salt water out of the bearings and brakes after a sea water launch or recovery. We took delivery of the trailer in October 2021 and towed it to Tollesbury Marina, where Kioni was berthed.  The mast was taken down by the boatyard with a crane, and then the boat was lifted and put onto the trailer without getting the trailer wet. She stayed on the trailer for the winter, which was spent in a dry barn near Kidderminster. This year, having secured a berth at QAB in Plymouth, we towed her to Portishead where Advance Marine Ltd (Volvo specialists) serviced the engine and gearbox and fitted a new neoprene inner seal between hull and saildrive leg, as well as a new rubber outer seal, as is recommended every seven years.  At the same time, we reduced the propellor size to that recommended for the yacht, fitting a new propellor and cone prior to taking the boat to Plymouth.  There, we raised the mast with the boat on the trailer, and a crane lifted her directly off the trailer for launching at Plymouth Boat Yard.

So the trailer has not yet been immersed in fresh or seawater, and has only travelled about 500 miles with a load on it.  We would like to sell it with the yacht at a price of £4000, which is 30% less than you would pay for a new one.  But if you want to buy the yacht and not the trailer we will sell them separately.

Also for sale is a used Avon Redstart 8ft inflatable, complete with oars, outboard bracket, carry bag and air pump, and a Mariner 2.5hp motor. Buy them both for £450
