About Pickle

The legendary Folkboat needs little introduction as one of the most successful small yacht designs of all time, with a good number of Atlantic crossings.

Pickle was originally moored in Christchurch, sailing under the number S3.

Over the years  Pickle has been up-graded to a high standard being of carvel construction with full length mahogany strakes on steamed oak timbers, sealed and painted marine-ply decks. Varnished mahogany coachroof and cockpit coamings.  Traditional varnished mahogany interior with two cabins offering four berths, the main saloon berths over 6ft in length.  Galley with sink, sea toilet, and chart table.

Bermudian sloop rig with Star Lite alloy mast and spars, stainless steel standing rigging, fully battened mainsail and roller reefing headsail.

9hp Yanmar 1GM10 diesel engine (in need of work). Five gallon fuel tank, thirteen gallon flexible fresh water tank. CQR anchor with 50ft. chain, warps and fenders. Deck stanchions. Stainless steel pulpit and pushpit.

Works required

Keel

Pickle has the benefit that most of her keel  bolts have ben replaced. However, the after most bolt is corroded into the cast iron keel. The current owners have had a change in circumstances and would now like to see Pickle go to someone who is prepared to spend the time and money to complete the keel bolt replacement.

Engine

The Yanamar 1gm is in need of a new head. The engine has been removed from the boat to allow the keel works to be completed, but will come as part of the sale.
